I've often receive the following error message:
This page took too long to generate and has been stopped. A log of this error has been reported to ProBoards Support.
Why is that?

Well it seems there are some server problems at Proboards. Many reports from users who's forum does not load. Or load slowly.
....
And found the answer: "We are aware of the existing server problems, it appears we are under attack by a bot. We are working to block the source IPs to restore service to forums."

I got an answer from Proboards: "...However, with regards to the search, it is, unfortunately, a little hit or miss. This is rectified in the next version of ProBoards."

The release date of the upcoming v5 update has yet to be determined. I have signed up for the ProBoards V5 Beta, so that I can test and see it: www.proboards.com/beta/. I hope it will be released very soon, because I dislike this problem as well. This forum with its many many posts quite depends on the search function. Peter
