Yay! It's amazing how much information we can provide about each species and subspecies when we all share our knowledge and sources with each other. I very much look forward to the next ten years

I think the past ten years were extremely thrilling. We had sad news, like the extinction of the Baiji, the Poouli, and the Pinta Island Tortoise. We had good news like the rediscovery of the Beck's Petrel, the Night Parrot, and the Hula Painted Frog. We had the biggest hype in the history of rediscovered species, the Ivory-billed woodpecker. We had phenomenal discoveries, like the Laotian Rock Rat and the mysterious world of the Foja Mountains in Papua New Guinea. And last but not least we had many new descriptions of subfossil birds from the Pacific. So I am very curious what we will discover in the next ten years.

Our forum turns 15 today. It is great that it now has a permanent place on the internet and that well-known authors (e.g. Julian Hume or Pedro Regalado) are grateful for our work.

Dear friends of the forum,
I am pleased to inform you that our forum will turn 20 years today. When we deal with the term ''extinction'', there is something very negative and depressive attached to this word. But 20 years ago, Peter Maas had the idea to deal with the topic of extinction in a forum, which I was very happy about when I became a member of this forum myself one year later. I think our forum is a very exciting place because the stories behind the extinct animals are tremendously interesting. In the last 20 years we have had sad events such as the extinction of the Poʻouli (2004), the Bramble Cay Melomys (2009) and the Pinta Island Tortoise (2012) but also spectacular rediscoveries such as the Bone skipper (2009), the Silver-backed chevrotain (2019), the Cone-billed tanager (2004), the Tachira antpitta (2016) and the Black-browed babbler (2020).
I thank Peter Maas for creating this great forum and all faithful members for your diligent and comprehensive contributions.
Finally I would like to say: Happy Birthday Forum.

Yeah, I was passionately interested in everything about extinct animals and plant since I was a kid. I wanted to become a natural scientist who specialized in extinct animals, but my dream was not coming true. Actually, I already knew this forum in 2006 and became a member in 2008, and I wanted to post here asap but finally posted first in 2015. It was too late.
Me too. I want to thank Peter Mass for establishing this amazing forum and our members for your great devotion. I wanted to say: Happy Birthday Forum.
