Not found since its description, almost 130 years ago. The wider area of the type locality was completely changed during the last century. The species may already be extinct. It is not present in any of the large odonatological collections from the island made by entomologists over the last 50 years (NHM Basle (Switzerland); NMNH - Smithsonian Institution (USA); Lund University (Sweden); and University of Vienna (Austria)). Now known as Anisogomphus ceylonicus This is the only "lost" dragonfly endemic to Sri Lanka which have not been rediscovered in recent years, it is still only known from the female holotype collected over 130 years ago. However, survey efforts around the type locality has not been appropiate. Source
