"The species is only known from the Gruta del Arco, in the Rancho de San Rafael del Arco, Lagos de Montebello, Municipio de La Trinitaria, Chiapas (Mexico) at an altitude of 1470 m (Villalobos Hiriart et al. 1989). The species was last recorded in 1986, where it was found to be abundant and the water quality was good. However, a recent survey at Gruta del Arco in 2010 did not find the species and the water quality had heavily degraded due to urban waste water pollution. The species' Area of Occupancy is less than 10 km2 and the Extent of Occurrence is also less than 10 km2. The species is listed as Critically Endangered Possibly Extinct, and more survey work is needed to identify if the species is still extant." Source: www.iucnredlist.org/details/198218/0
