Hello Peter,
i would like to suggest to create more boards in this forum. There is for example no overview in the Endangered Animals board and so it would be better to split it into the following boards:
Endangered Mammals Endangered Birds Endangered Amphibians Endangered Insects Endangered Reptiles Endangered Mollucs Endangered Fish
Further i would like to suggest to create the following boards
Zoos and Nature Conservation Endangered Plants
What do you thinking about?
Best Regards
Melanie

Melanie,
That is a good suggestion! I've done that too for the recently extinct animals board, some while ago! because the overview there was gone, due to the amount of posts.
And the boards are a good addition too!
I will add them, but could you help moving the older posts to the right board after making them!

Yeah, that is quite a lot of work to move the threads. By the way:
We need one more board
Endangered other animals (like Spiders, Squids, Shrimps, Earworms etc.)
And it would sound better if you could rename the Endangered plants board into
Endangered and rediscovered plants

You're right! I've added a special category for extinct, rediscovered and endangered plants. And I have split the Endangered and Rediscovered plants. Each has now its own board.
WHat do you think, do we need a seperation between recently extinct plants and prehistoric extinct plants?

Hi ! I think now it is enough, when the forum grows larger again I loos the oversight. And when some one new comes in, he may not find anything.

Hi Noisi,
we have created more sub boards because to got a better overview. To give you an example. You are searching a text about the Quagga. Well you can turn all the 20 or 30 pages of the extinct mammals board until you have find it. But i think you will it find a little faster when you search it in the extinct ungulates board.
Melanie.

- when You know what ungulates are.
Hi !
To me this is to 'scientific' now. We know what we talking about when we speak of ungulates or perissodactyles or such, but if one have no idea of all that ... ?
I think it is much to large now.

hmmmm, do you suggest to have it the old way? As it was hard to find any topic. Because the mammals and birds topic were about 300 and rising! If members don't like it, we shall stop and do it otherwise.

I think its better with more boards, I agree with melly, for ex all extinct mammals are in a single board and if you want to read about you have to look throught to many pages to find it.
I think its good that there is more board now, much better overview ;D

Perissodactyles is indeed difficult, but after the order, it is explained what it is like: (horses, rhinos, tapirs). Maybe we can rename the boards.
I have now used all orders, but I can also make less new boards by combining some orders. But first I think moving the posts.
If than a board has non or just a couple posts, than they can be combined in other mammals, or birds. Probably the more well known animal groups will contain more posts.

The Recently Extinct Mammals boards are finished! Noisi, is it better this way? Less boards, and not that "scientific". The boards for the birds will become something like this.

Hi !
I don't think of me, I may have an good overview and You all also. But I think of new members or guests, will they still have an overview ? And when someone posts in the wrong part, You have still a lot work to do.
I know that many people have no idea of scientific names or such, I dont know if theese people will look inside this forum, anyway.

Many people take a look, and since last week many pages of my website are directly linked to boards on this forum. Most visitors from my website come to find information on recently extinct animals. Most of them are students and teachers. And beside that people who are interested in extinct and endangered animals.
At first I didn't want to make the forum bigger, as you need to scroll down a lot. And indeed because it would maybe difficult for people to know where to post. But after PMed with Melanie, she convinced me, and It might indeed be better to find information. But I will not use the scientific names, as that would be too difficult for most people. I will use common names, with an explanation, and there the scientific orders. The names with the birds will change too, when the posts are moved.
That it probably takes work is fine for me. Melanie is also able to do a lot. And when we need more moderators, we can ask members if they want to become one.
This is not the only forum I have. Another one is about Gerbils. That forum has more than 500 members. Besides me, there are 3 Global Moderators, and two common Moderators to keep it all running smootly. The same will happen here, when it grows more.

Of course you can! That is why it was added, so that members can show their pictures.
