Rounded Global Status: GX - Presumed Extinct Reasons: Extirpated along with many other members of the genus. Presumably extirpated due to loss of large river habitat due to conversion of rivers into canals and impoundments. Global Range Comments: Was distributed in medium to large rivers in the Cumberland and Tennessee river systems (Burch 1975, Gordon and Layzer 1989). Archeological and historical records are known from the following rivers in Kentucky: the Tennessee and lower Cumberland rivers in Livingston, Lyon, and Todd counties; the Big South Fork Cumberland River in Pulaski County (Cicerello 1991). www.natureserve.org/
