Historically this species was found from Palolo to Pauoa, a distance of three miles. The one current population was found on Tantalus. A. s. producta has been found only on Tantalus & Makiki.

10 post-1945 locations, 1 possibly current (197?) and 9 historical (1951-1961). Likely extinct (Hawaii Biological Survey web site http:/hbs.bishopmuseum.org/endangered/ext-snails.html, updated 9 February 1997). Last seen in 1970's.
