Taxonomic Comments: ELIMIA CAHAWBENSIS, E. ANNETTAE, E. VARIANS, and E. PUPOIDES appear to represent a cline from headwaters to large river and this group needs further study to determine if there are four species or a single variable species (Bogan and Pierson 1993). Rounded Global Status: GH - Possibly Extinct Reasons: Recent survey efforts on the Cahaba River did not locate this species. May be part of clinal variant. Otherwise, likely extinct. Global Range Comments: Historically known from the lower Cahaba River on the Coastal Plain and Alabama River and was also taken on the Black Warrior River (Goodrich, 1941). Recent surveys of the Cahaba River did not find this species (Bogan and Pierson, 1993). Likely extinct (Mirarchi, 2004). www.natureserve.org/
