There never was an endemic form of rail on Lisianski, during 'excavations' only a single rail bone was found, undistinguishable from those of the Laysan Rail, of which a small population was released on the island of Lisianski.
If there once was a distinct population of rails, of course many more bones would have been found, and these would of course have differed in some aspects from those of other rail species.
