There is a disagreement regarding the name of this species. Some that claim that the species belongs to genus Trichonia (Boeters et al. 2017) and others place the species in Radomaniola, based on morphology and molecular data (Radea et al. 2013, 2017; Falniowski et al. 2012; Delicado and Hauffe 2022).

This species is endemic to Greece, where it was originally described from a spring in the Messolongi area (Radoman 1973), however, this spring does not exist anymore (Szarowska and Falniowski 2011) due to intensive water abstraction for irrigation. However, relatively recently the species was found in a spring in Thermo, close to Lake Trichonida and in water near to the lake.
