This species is endemic to Italy, where it was originally recorded from a single site in the alpine region. Currently it is considered Extinct as it has not been recorded since 1850 despite survey efforts in the region over the last 30 years. It is listed on the Italian Red List as Extinct (CK Map 5.3.8, Manganelli et al. 2000).
