"Liophidium apperti has been listed as Data Deficient as it has only been described from a single specimen within a forest location that has since been cleared for agricultural expansion. Further research is therefore needed into the presence and distribution before a more accurate assessment of the conservation status of L. apperti can be carried out." "This species has been highlighted as an example of a possible recent extinction (Glaw and Vences 2007, Burgman et al. 1993). However, the possibility remains that it occurs in a wider area than currently thought (Raxworthy and Nussbaum 2001)." Source: www.iucnredlist.org/species/176827/7311706
