he species is endemic to Turkey and known only from Lake Beyşehir (Prov. Isparta/Konya), the largest freshwater lake in Turkey. There are no records of living specimens of the species since the 1990s. In 2005 only empty shells could be collected on the shore. The population trend seems to be in decline. Water-levels have fallen considerably since the 1990s and the lake area has reduced by an estimated 60%. This will have lead to the loss (>90%) of the species' habitat (littoral areas of the lake) and it is therefore inferred that species is possibly extinct (supported by surveys in the past decade). Although the discovery of a surviving population in and around the lake is possible, seeing that the species is lacustrine and the habitat change has occurred throughout the lake this seems unlikely. Since surveys are failed to reveal any living specimen it is a candidate for Possibly Extinct.
