From today, this forum has changed a bit. Guests are not allowed anymore to post create threads or reply to threads. They cannot post messages anymore. They can also not read any posts, except for the ones in the "Forum Information" category. Now only registered members can! This has been done, because we have to edit and remove posts of some guests. Those posts contain nonsense, texts that violate the rules, contains links to websites with adult content, virusses, etc. It makes no fun to search all these posts and delete them. And there was a big increase in such spam posts.

Well, i have to add some thoughts too. It is unfair to bother us with stupid baubles. We have created this board because we are deeply concerned about the extinction of species and we are spending a lot of work and sparetime to provide all the information and pictures we could find for free. There are a lot of people who are interested in extinct and endangered species but they have not the money to buy expensive books and journals and therefore we have created this forum. Subcribtion for a membership is for free and it is easy. So if you are really interested in a serious discussion please subscribe here.

I also thinks that this is a god idea, it has often been, more in recent times, people which are here to do one thing, to destroy, to write nonsens, or to say how much they hate animals
That is not very nice to hear or read about. Especially not on a page like this one, were animal and plant intrested people are talking.

Hi Pierre.
The mammal you asking after is a small rodent
here some info:
Mansuela Melomys Melomys fraterculus
The very long tail relative to bod length, small size, soft pelage, and light brown should distinguish this murid from all other seramese species.
The Mansuela melomys is still known only from the holotype, an adult male collected by the Pratt Brothers in jan 1920. The only habitat information available is written on a specimen leg label, and states caught in heavy jungle 6,000' = 1,800 metres.
Although first described as a species of uromys, tate 1951 transferred it to the genus pogonomelomys, menzies 1991b;134 has suggested that for the present it is best left in melomys although as polonomeoamys. Resolution of its generic position must wait the discovery of more specimens. Whatever the case, it is clear that it is a very distinctive species. It may ultimately be necessary to create a new genus for it...

I didn't even know guests could post messages! When I was a guest to this forum, in July, I couldn't send anything to anyone! Worse, I had to ask the Administrater to register me to this forum, because no, absolutely no computer in the room afforded me to!! I tried during two entire months registering, login in, sending, but nothing, I say nothing was never done!!! It's true that the computers I use don't afford everything, and yet this rule was effective in August, that could explain why I couldn't do anything here. Anyway, what I'm saying here, is that rule doesn't change anything for me, because I could never have known.

In the beginning everyone was free to post on this forum, but a lot of people kept posting spam, etc. After that we closed almost all boards for guests, only the ones here in the "Forum Information" category were kept open for guests. But almost daily someone posted spam here (links to porn sites, etc.), so we've decided to close all boards for guests.
