Regarding Peter's new Extinct Birds sub-boards re-arrangement proposal, I think that it looks very much improved. Perhaps Melanie's suggestion to join seabirds and the waders-gulls-terns assemble makes sense, as the number of extinct taxa in all them together makes a very reasonable amount of threads that would fit nicely in a single sub-board.
Couldn't it be, also, from a practical point of view, as non experts will look in the wrong sub-board, to include Turnices in the "Fowl" sub-board? So, the new name could be Fowl and fowl-like birds (Galliformes and Turniciformes)?

I would also suggest to split the Insects and Molluscs groups.
The Insects into: Butterflies, Beetles, Other Insects (including Dragonflies, Flies, and Ants) The Molluscs into: Shells and Snails

Yes, this would make sense. I think this further splitting made really sense.

That makes indeed sense! About the birds board, here a new proposal: - Wildfowl, Grebes and Flamingos
- Seabirds, waders, Gulls, Terns and allies
- Hummingbirds and Swifts
- Kingfishers and allies
- Coots, Cranes and Rails
- Doves, Pigeons and Dodos
- Perching Birds
- Parrots
- Birds of Prey and Owls
- Ratites
- Fowl and fowl-like birds (Galliformes and Turniciformes)
- Storks and allies (Ciconiiformes)
- Other Recently Extinct Birds
All suggestions are very helpful (especially as I'm not a bird expert)!

Perhaps a sub-forum for salmonids, because they are a big genus with several extinct species?

Lets take Peter's suggestion for the birds category first. How much categories should the Insects group receive?

Well there is quite alot of threads about Megapode and on herons for example so should Other Recently Extinct Birds be split up even more. I believe we shouldn't have a other category in the birds section it should be like the animals section.

Subboards for Bivalves and Gastropods have been created. Would it make sense to divide the Gastropodes in land snails, freshwater snails and sea snails ?
