What would you thinking about to split the part of the Prehistoric extinctions for an own new forum? I would like to make this suggestion because of the following reason. Yesterday I have created some new categories for this board and i have noticed that this could be a part which is as large or even larger than the part for the Recent Extinctions. But on the other hand the main attention, the main concentration and the main discussion is in the recently extinctions categories To make the part of the prehistoric extinctions more attractive for the reader and to strain a better discussion for this area i think it would be better to build up a new Prenistoric Extinction Forum. What do you think about my suggestion?

Well there will be a huge work with moving all threads to a potentially new forum

Yes, that is true. But it will have much more categories like this one. And I have already a name. What would you thinking about: Palaeontology Forum?

I think it would be a great idea even as sebbe67 said this would be a big job to do.
So if this goes ahead will we be looking for more moderators? As there be a bigger worlk load to manage.
Plus will you need to register separately as member from this new one? So will you not be able to go from this one to the new one without needing to login each time.
Just a few questions if you don't mind answering.

Of course everyone is free to create a forum on its own. However it will no be allowed to use posts from this forum in that new forum (without the user's permission). This forum is still an integrated part of The Extinction Website. And I want to maintain a forum that includes all topics on extinction. Two different fora for The Extinction Website would mean that people have to register on both, not just one. I think it works fine with using more boards and/or subboards, like Melanie created.

Suggestions to make the prehistoric part more attractive are very welcome. Most visitors that visit this forum though The Extinction Website are interested in recently extinct species. The Extinction Website does currently not have a part that focusses on prehistoric extinction. The creation of such a part would possible attract more visitors with that interest. Also links to this forum can be placed on other sites on prehistoric extinction.

What do you think about my suggestion? Great idea. I totally agree with you. I think that recent and prehistoric are slightly different kinds of "extinction concern" among people, and as you say, a person more interested in prehistoric extinction, dinosaurs and so on, quickly realize that the current forum is mostly on recent extincions and just stop visiting it. So perhaps two forums, specialized in each extinction period is just the solution. I'm not sure about late Pleistocene extinctions though, as many people insterested in Holocene extinctions are also interested in that period.

I have also no objection to a new specialized forum on prehistoric extinctions. But it will not be a part of The Extinction Website and The Extinction Forum. The prehistoric category in this forum will also remain to be here, it will not be removed or transfered to a possibe new one. However, it will also not be expended (yet). There are also users here that are interested in all extinctions, including myself.

I particularly prefer a single forum, with focus in the single assunt, extinction.
