formerly Dinornis parvus The Little Bush Moa is another small species of about the same height as the Coastal Moa. It weighed around 30kg and, together with the Giant Moa ranged over most of North Island and parts of north–western and southern South Island. The Southland Museum has the only known example of a partially complete, fully articulated, naturally–mummified Little Bush Moa, found in the Echo Valley in 1980.

Extinct birds : an attempt to unite in one volume a short account of those birds which have become extinct in historical times : that is, within the last six or seven hundred years : to which are added a few which still exist, but are on the verge of extinction (1907)

How is it possible, that a species of flightless bird could live on two islands, seperated by several km of open ocean (as far as I can see as the only species of Moa) I think the genus Anomalopteryx included two species.
