Listed as Critically Endangered in 1996 (Baillie and Groombridge 1996) due to lack of survey information. Recent survey information confirms that it is Extinct.

Rounded Global Status: GH - Possibly Extinct Reasons: Presumably eliminated following the impoundment of the Coosa River mainstem (Bogan and Pierson 1993). Formerly endemic to middle and lower reaches of Coosa River, Alabama, but not reported since the river was impounded (Mirarchi, 2004). www.natureserve.org/
