Turvey's book Holocene Extinctions is very interesting when you looking for references.

In 1994, Jerry van Tets described this cormorant from Western Australia which survived apparently until the Holocene.

This whole 'book' is very interesting! ... for example the 'Ankylosaurid mimikry' article, etc.

Many of the early volumes of the Records of the South Australian Museum are available through BHL:
