One of the 7 wonders of the natural world is fighting for its life! The Great Barrier Reef is at risk from mega developments along its coast and the governments responsible for this international icon aren’t protecting it.
The Great Barrier Reef was listed as a World Heritage site in 1981 and remains the ONLY site in the world that meets all four Outstanding Universal Value tests.
Visible from space, it is home to over 1,500 species of fish, and hundreds of threatened species – including whales, dolphins, turtles and corals.
But that isn’t stopping the Queensland and Australian Governments from fast-tracking mega ports, shipping superhighways and the dredging and dumping of millions of tonnes of seabed and rock in the Reef’s waters.
