This is a good question. We have previously classified all extinct lice or louse species into this category.

But you are right. I will move all lice and louse species to the insect category.

I've moved it to other extinct animals as Sebbe has previously created a similar thread in that category. (I had to delete Sebbes threat as it had containt two lices which are not extinct).

Mey E: Eine neue ausgestorbene Vogel-Ischnozere von Neuseeland, Huiacola extinctus (Insecta, Phthiraptera). Zoologischer Anzeiger 224:49-73, 1990 The mallophagan Huiacola extinctus gen. et sp. nov. is described from adults, larvae and eggs obtained from a number of stuffed specimens of the extinct New Zealand Huia (Heteralocha acutirostris) housed at various East German museums. Along with the Kiwi (Apteryx)-specific genera Aptericola and Apterygon, Huiacola extinctus was a New Zealand endemic, with the genus belonging to the Rallicolinae (Rallicola complex). Three of the larvae contained feather mites (Analgesoidea) in their proventricle. A list of the 7 other known extinct Mallophaga is provided. www.cabdirect.org/abstracts/19900501395.html;jsessionid=2771D396B748C0739A7F12E6AAC52F56
