Collected in Pleistocene cave deposits (Cave I in Miller's notes) near St Michel de L'Atalaye, Départment de L; Artibonite, Haiti, Hispaniola, in 1925 by Gerrt S. Miller.

I take great pleasure in dedicating this interesting new species to my close friend and associate Alexander Wetmore, in recognition of his many contributions to avian paleontology and to West Indian ornithology, particularly that of Hispaniola.
