This species is endemic to the Seychelles islands of Mahe, Silhouette and Praslin.
This species has a restricted (an area of occupancy of 5 km2) and severely fragmented range and was recorded from habitats that are deteriorating due to the effects of invasive plant species. It was last recorded on Mahe and Silhouette in 1972 despite extensive searches of the recorded sites and similar habitat. There is only one record from Praslin island, an imprecise locality in 1908. The lack of any recent records suggest that it may be extinct. Therefore, it is assessed a Critically Endangered (Possibly Extinct).
