This species was previously known only from the island of Koror (Oreor) (Y. Kondo 1936 unpublished data, Beddome 1889): its historical geographic range was therefore approximately less than 7.5 km2. It is possible that it once occurred on other islands that were not surveyed, however available data suggest it is a single island endemic. The species has not been collected since 1936.
This species was last collected by Y. Kondo (Bishop Museum, Honolulu, Hawaii, USA) in 1936 on the island of Koror, which is the currently the most heavily populated island in Palau. Neither live specimens or dead shells have been found in extensive surveys of Palau in 2003, 2005 and 2007 (Rundell 2010).
