It is endemic to Turkey and only known from a single location in Lake Beyşehir near Kireli (Prov. Konya) (Radoman 1973). Although the species has not been collected since the date of its description, presence of surviving populations elsewhere is possible as the Quaternary fossils can be encountered in Konya basin to the east of Lake Beyşehir (Schütt, 1991).
Nothing is known about its population. The species has never been collected since its original description. Recent surveys (1990 to 2013) have failed to relocated the species.
