Note this species name has usually been used erroneously for what is now A. egenoides, a common species. See MONA fascicle (Lafontaine and Poole, 1991) for details and a good description and illustrations of this species. This taxonomic confusion has lead to this rare species being overlooked in previous TNC ranking and USFWS Candidate lists.
Known (pre-1917) from Los Angeles, California; and in mid 20th century from nearby Pasadena. No records in over 20 years according to recent literature. Only two records ever.
