According to the Japanese Red List this species was known from Hokkaido Prefecture but it is now extinct.

Specific requirements (2) The presence of this species has not been confirmed by multiple reliable surveys. The last record of the Hokkaido subspecies was a single specimen collected on August 27, 1972 in Maruyama, Sapporo. Distribution: Hokkaido (extinct) Form: Forewing length 19-22mm Ecology: Its main habitat is around broadleaf forests, and when it occurs near urban areas, it is limited to environments with an abundance of trees such as parks, shrines, and cemeteries. Its food plant is the Ezoenoki tree, and adults emerge in early summer, hibernate in midsummer, become active in autumn, and overwinter as adults. It has been recorded in Hokkaido in the past in Sapporo, Yubari, Hidaka, and Hakodate. In the past, this species appears to have been relatively commonly seen in habitats such as Maruyama in Sapporo, but there have been no definitive records of it being seen in recent years.
