What would you thinking about if we create and provide a monthly newsletter for all the forum members per email?
This newsletter could content links to websites about extinct and endangered species, a list of interesting books or links to articles (from the internet) and an digest of the most current entries in the forum.

That would be really handy. It would make it so much easier to share this information with others... especially if you include some pictures and information on how readers can help stop this crisis.

Thanks for your comment. Unfortunately it is not possible to sent this newsletter via the forum But i could sent a PM to all forum members and asked them if they want such a newsletter. All members who are interested must have a valid email address and they will receive this newsletter either in PDF-Format or in DOC (MS-Word)-Format.
This could be the look of the Newsletter
e.g. Extinction Forum Newsletter September 2005
1. Introduction 2. Extinct animal of the month (Portrait and picture) 3. Extinct plant of the month (Portrait and picture) 4. Endangered animal of the month (Portrait and picture) 5. Endangered plant of the month (Portrait and picture) 6. Book of the the month 7. Latests entrees in the forum (at least 10 - 20 links)
if you have more ideas and suggestions please feel free to contribute.

Is a good idea! Only members must be able to unsubscribe. And Melanie, do you have a PDF creator? I have one, but it does not work at the moment (computerproblems). We could also place them on the internet on my domain, and just in the body of the e-mail in html.
And we have to decide how it is made, some kind of template, and most important who it will make.
I will also look if it is possible to make a newsletter in Proboards. I thought that was possible too.

I have Adobe Acrobat 6 and I could make a template with Word 2000 (maybe with the Extinction forum logo in the header) and convert it to PDF.

Great! Yes the logo must be included, when it is a news letter for this forum. The forum colours must be used too, to keep it recognisable.

Well, i am currently trying to make a layout. The problem is that the newsletter would be too large. I had hoped to limit the newsletter to 2 - 3 pages but then i must drop some ideas for the newsletter.

Dear Members,
we are currently working on a forum newsletter. The publishing for the first issue is scheduled for September 15, 2005. So if you are interested please send a PM or an email with your valid email address with a request for that newsletter to Peter, Sebbe or me. Only members who have sent us a feedback will receive that newsletter.
Best regards
Melanie
The text was also sent by mail to all members of the forum.

Hello,
unfortunately i have to say that the Forum newsletter project is cancelled for an indefinite period. Well, i cannot say why but in the past two years i had neither the mood nor the patience to create that newsletter. Now, i haven't the time. I'm taking part at Wikipedia articles and i am taking part in several forums. And finally, afters years of unemployment, i have a job as charwoman in a kindergarden.

The same here Melanie! We all have limited time. So the newsletter will indeed be on hold for an indefinite period. Peter

That's a good idea... Only, seing the total number of members on this site, it could take days to send a single letter to aaaaalllllllllll members!
